Competitive Studying Is The New Fortnite – WorksheetCloud Leaderboard

Written by Adrian Marnewick

Studying for a test or exam sucks. Let’s be honest.

I am a father to a 16 year old boy.

He is highly intelligent and bright, but not superbly studious. Just like me throughout my primary and high school career, he does enough to coast by without really achieving his true potential.

This is primarily because studying sucks and learning school subjects is boring for him. Getting my son to study for tests and exams is an uphill struggle, but WorksheetCloud changed all of that, permanently.

One of the goals we set for ourselves when building WorksheetCloud was to make studying fun. Sounds like a ripe old cliche, because everyone and their mum has built an education tool that “makes learning fun”. The difference is, we have actually achieved that.

WorksheetCloud taps into your child’s competitive streak

Healthy competition is a good thing. Especially so when it motivates your child to do better at SCHOOL of all things!

WorksheetCloud’s Leaderboard is designed to engage with your child’s inner and outer competitiveness by encouraging and motivating them to keep practicing content like study notes, questions and exams in WorksheetCloud.

The Leaderboard pits learners against one another based on their academic ability. You child will see the 3 learners above and 3 learners below them. It motives your child to try to beat the 3 learners above, while keeping ahead of the 3 learners below. And the only way to beat other learners is by answering more and more questions in WorksheetCloud.

How Knowledge Points (KP) Affect Your Leaderboard Rank

Knowledge Points, or KP as they are referred to in WorksheetCloud, are the same as marks. In other words, if a question is worth 3 marks, then it is also worth 3 KP.

KP is what is used to rank your child on the Leaderboard. The higher your child’s KP, the higher their rank on the Leaderboard. This means your child will always be up against learners within their own academic range.

A new Leaderboard for every school term

The Leaderboard resets after every school term ends. We’ve shown a countdown of the number of days left in the current term, as well as the number of days before the next term begins.

This encourages your child to earn as many levels, badges and Knowledge Points as possible in each term which will score them a fantastic rank on the Leaderboard.

We’ve also designed the Leaderboard to subtly encourage your child to keep practicing more questions and exams.

All of this is in an effort to get your child’s motivation up, and your nagging over studying down!

Login to your WorksheetCloud Parent Account right now to check your child’s current position on the Leaderboard. It updates in real-time so your child needs to keep answering questions in order to maintain and improve their position.

      Good day
I need to say that we find WorksheetCloud very interesting. My son, Franco was hooked from the start. It is now 3 days since we signed up and this Saturday morning Franco went on his own to sign in and he did a couple of questions for maths. He is every time so excited to move a level up. I am really greatfull for this new way of studying. Thank you Adrian for this great idea.

      Hi Leoni

Thanks so much for your comment on our blog! Yes, all the content in WorksheetCloud is available in Afrikaans and English. When you add a learner to your account, you can simply select the learner’s default language and they will receive content in the language you select. For example, Mathematics will become Wiskunde and so on.
